About Me

That Is Where My Heart Is

I've had dogs most of my life and have been breeding, training, and competing with my Golden Retrievers for around 20 years. My dogs and I have dabbled in tracking and field work and competed in conformation and obedience. Still, our absolute favorites are rally and agility.

I earned Bachelor's degrees in both Wildlife Biology and Nursing in my early days. I entered the human medical field after a cat allergy forced me to decline an invitation to MSU's Veterinary Medicine program. I've been helping people with their canine health, grooming, and training questions for years. After working at my friend's Veterinary Clinic during Covid, I decided it was time to pursue helping people help their dogs full time. That is where my heart is.

I've earned a diploma as a Canine Specialist from Stratford Career Institute, and I am certified in Canine First Aid for groomers through QC Pet Studies.

I have an extensive library of canine information that will never stop growing. I love to learn new things and expand on my current knowledge!

I am also a farmer - I raised, trained, and showed Morgan horses for years. When my husband and I started looking for a home many years ago, it had to be a farm. That farm soon had some chickens, which led to turkeys and ducks on and off. Then when I started getting involved in 4H with family members, dairy goats and rabbits came on board. I still have the chickens and dairy goats and have added cattle for meat and milk.

As a nurse, I know the importance of a healthy diet to overall health. Following organic principles, I produce our eggs, meat, some milk products, and goat's milk soaps. I also like to can and grow organic fruits and vegetables with any spare time I have.
